  We, the congregations of Janetville Pastoral Charge, support the work of the United Church of Canada's Mission & Service Fund (M&S Fund).

   By supporting the M&S Fund, we are helping others here in Canada and around the world.  We are putting our faith into action, to love and serve others; reaching out and helping others who are less fortunate than us.  Sharing the gifts God has so generously given us.  We are living our Creed;

A NEW CREED

We are not alone;

we live in God's world.

We believe in God:

who has created and is creating,

who has come in Jesus,

the Word made flesh,

to reconcile and make new,

who works in us and others

by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:

to celebrate God's presence,

to live with respect in Creation,

to love and serve others,

to seek justice and resist evil,

to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,

our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,

God is with us.

We are not alone,

Our Pastoral Charge goal for Mission & Service for 2010 was $7,500.  We exceeded our goal and we are very proud of that.  During lent we will follow a lenten calendar, which requires an offering for each day.  Some of the specific items for the various days are:

• Pay $.85 if you ate today & thank a farmer!
• For all the colours of the earth, add $1;50.
• Add $.10 for each year you spent at school 
• For each glass of water you have today, pay $.50 - pray for those who have none.
• Pay $.05 for each pew in church, add $.50 if they have cushions.
• Pray for Peace in our world -- What would you pay to seek peace? 
• For each lightbulb in your home, pay $ .01 - and remember that Jesus is the light of the world!

This is fun endeavour, and a great way to support our M&S partners in Canada and all around the world! This activity certainly underscores the great country we live in and how fortunate we are!

Here is a picture of our  M & S Bears, which we have named 'Caring & Sharing",  with a map of the world where our M&S dollars are at work around the world.  Caring & Sharing M&S Bears also have a diary with them that tells of  the wonderful  work of  the Mission & Service Fund.
